Józef Elsner (1769-1854) – a composer and teacher, well-known and respected throughout Europe, who played a very important role in the musical life of Warsaw at the start of the 19th Century; a friend of the Wolowski family.
Luigi Cherubini (1760-1842) fascinated by the talent of “Marynia” Wolowska, aged 21, whom he had heard in Paris salons in 1810. He dedicated his “Fantasy for piano” to her. She later gave a concert at the Paris Conservatoire of which he was still Director. All her life, Szymanowska kept a special relationship with him.
