2019 Maria Szymanowska Year

It's thanks to vigorous action taken by the Senator Barbara Borys-Damięcka, member of the Culture and Media Committee as well as that of the Emigration Affairs and Contacts with Poles Abroad, which relayed to the Upper House the initiative of Elisabeth Zapolska Chapelle, Maria Szymanowska Society's President, that this solemn declaration was adopted.
Maria Szymanowska will be the subject of one of the five official celebrations of the year 2019 initiated by the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
Since the restoration of independence in 1918, this is the first time that the Polish state has recognized the merits and exceptional contribution of this Great Lady to national and European culture.
